Good News! Two Cases Handled by our Mr. Huang Hui Win 1st and 3rd prizes for Typical Cases of Foreign-related Legal Services

To sum up the experience of Guangdong lawyers in the field of foreign-related legal services, enhance business exchanges on foreign-related legal services, accelerate the training of international lawyers and improve their foreign-related legal service level, Guangdong Lawyers Association launched  selection of typical cases of foreign-related legal services in Guangdong Province. The Association has recently unveiled the final result, with five entries winning the 1st prize for Typical Cases of Foreign-related Legal Services, ten awarded the 2nd prize, and another fourteen and twenty given the 3rd prize and excellent prize respectively. Our senior partner Mr. Huang Hui won the 1st prize for his representation in the retrial of a salvage claim between the ship-owners of a Greek-registered oil tanker and the Chinese salvor, and the 3rd prize for handling the serial cases arising from a deadly collision between a China-registered bulk carrier and a Marshall Islands-registered container ship in the Pearl River Estuary. The two typical cases were also included in A Compilation of Typical Cases of Foreign-related Legal Services published by Guangdong Lawyers Association and Guangdong Silk & Road Legal Services Research Center. Ship collision and salvage are hot frontier issues that have drawn the close attention of many maritime law scholars and practitioners in recent years and are considered as relatively the most characteristic of maritime law compared with civil and commercial law. Therefore, the two typical cases have attracted wide attention and ignited heated discussions in the maritime law field.

Our team led by Mr. Huang Hui has overcome sorts of difficulties and obstacles concerning the applicable law during the handling of the two selected cases. Facing with such complicated cases where various legal relationships were involved, we managed to untangle the facts, legal relationships of parties concerned and relevant provisions of domestic law and international conventions applicable to the cases, which can be very good references and citations in the disposition of similar cases. We are delighted to receive the recognition of Guangdong Lawyers Association of our professionalism and service level, and will continuously strive to provide high-quality and efficient foreign-related legal services to customers at home and abroad.
